2016-2017 Science on Saturday at MIT: Free Science Demos for Kids

The popular Science on Saturday programs sponsored by the MIT Museum, MIT Lincoln Laboratory and the Akamai Foundation are back for a full season in Cambridge and Lexington, MA. If you are looking for a family-friendly Saturday activity that is STEM focused (science, technology, engineering and math), then this is an outing the entire family can enjoy.Science Symbol

The programs run during the school year and are educational and entertaining — kids can even volunteer to participate. The events, presented by volunteer scientists and engineers, are designed to appeal to young kids. Past demonstration topics have covered cryogenics, electricity and magnetism, chemistry, and  hands-on engineering. These events are FREE and are easy to fit into a Saturday morning. I have attended Science on Saturday and for parents who are looking to expose and engage their kids (especially elementary-age) in science-related programs, this is a perfect way to start your weekend.
