Tech Events for Kids in Boston – September 2015 Roundup

There are many ways to get your children involved in STEM-related activities this September.

September 1, 8: Learn 3D printing at the Peabody Institute Library. (Ages 11-18)

September 3: Einstein’s Workshop is starting a combative robotics league for high school students. Attend the Info Session at their facility in Burlington.

September 5, 6, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27: Hands-on engineering and design at the MIT Museum in Cambridge. Free with Museum admission. (Ages 12+)

September 7, 14, 21, 28: Join the STEAM Club at danger!awesome in Cambridge and learn design and programming to create art projects. Cost: $150/semester. (Ages 13+)

September 8: Learn how 3D printing works with design software Tinkercad at the Newton Free Library. (Grades 2-5)

September 9, 16, 30: Learn math with the Russian School of Mathematics at the Newton Free Library. (Ages 4-5)

September 10: Learn about 3D printing & print a small 3D object to take home at the Morse Institute Library in Natick. (Ages 11-18)

September 14: Discover engineering by building LEGO robots at the Watertown Free Public Library. (Grades 3-5)

September 14: Learn 3D printing at the Peabody Institute Library. (Ages 9-13)

September 16: Come learn about Girls Who Code Club at the Newton Free Library. (Grades 6-12)

September 17: Try your hand at stop motion animation using LEGO bricks or clay at the Cary Memorial Library in Lexington. (Grades 3-6)

September 17: Work with Scratch at the Newton Free Library. (Grades 3-6)

September 19: Free, all-day hackathon for high schoolers of all programming abilities at Lexington High School.

September 19, 25: Conduct simple science experiments, play fun games, and compete in building challenges at the Worcester Public Library. (Ages 9 – 12)

September 19- January 3: See the Strandbeest kinetic sculptures exhibit at the Peabody Essex Museum. Cost: $18 Adult and $10 Youth

September 24: Join the Science and Astronomy Club at the Beverly Public Library. (Grades 1-5)

September 26: Build your own rocket at the Seekonk Public Library. (Ages 6+)

September 26: Learn to create, code, and design games and apps with the latest technologies, including Kodu, TouchDevelop, and Project Spark at the Wellesley Free Library. (For girls, grades 9-12)

September 28: Try out 3D design and printing at the Weston Public Library.

September 30: Learn 3D Printing with Tinkercad at the Swampscott Library.

September 30: Explore a simple circuit, and turn a toothbrush into a crazy bug that skitters around at the Wayland Free Public Library. (Ages 6+)
